Lifeline is a federal benefit program that aims to bridge the digital divide by assisting eligible households in affording mobile internet services. This program provides a discount of $9.25 per month towards mobile internet services for eligible households and up to $34.25 per month for subscribers on Tribal lands.

For eligible subscribers on Tribal lands, the benefit increases to up to $34.25 per month. Lifeline further supports broadband internet service and broadband-voice bundles, empowering individuals to overcome financial barriers and access crucial digital resources.

Who is eligible for the Lifeline Program

Lifeline is designed to support various segments of the population: low-income people, Veterans, individuals with disabilities, residents of tribal lands, and other eligible Americans. Eligibility criteria encompass participation in federal assistance programs such as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), Medicaid, Federal Housing Programs, Veterans and Survivors Spouses Benefits, certain Tribal Programs, or meeting specific income levels. The program aims to ensure that those facing economic challenges or participating in qualifying programs have access to affordable connectivity. 

How to enroll in the Lifeline Benefit Program?

After qualifying, individuals can choose a phone or internet company near them and sign up for the service, or request their current provider to apply the Lifeline benefit to their existing service.
